Beach Access: There is direct access into the water in front of the Bungalow when ocean conditions are safe, in order to snorkel, swim, scuba dive, kayak, and when a seasonal south swell arrives you can even boogie board or surf right out in front of the Bungalow!

Outdoor Spa: In the garden there is a Brand New 18 jet extra deep hot tub spa which is private just for use by guests of the Bungalow.

Central A/C: No central air conditioning, however there are ceiling fans, wall mounted air conditioners, portable air conditioners, and portable floor fans.

Security System: There are smoke detectors and a safe provided.

Sofa Bed or Futon: There is no sofa bed in the living room, however you are welcome to rent a toddler cot or adult rollaway rental bed as needed. There are extra bed linens stocked in the event you add rental bedding.

Gym or Exercise Equipment: Nearby in Wailea Resort there is a private gym available when hiring a private trainer, or drive a short distance to Kihei Town where there are two gyms that welcome visitors on a daily or weekly paid pass program.

Rates are plus General Excise Tax (GET) & Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT). GET is 4.166% and TAT is 10.25%.

These rates are valid as of the current date. Rates are subject to change until reserved with a signed Rental Application & Agreement and payment of the initial amount due.

Infants and toddlers under two (2) years of age at the time of occupancy, may be excluded from the total guest count. Toddlers and children age two (2) and above at the time of occupancy will be included in the total guest count. The total guest count may not exceed the stated number of persons. We reserve the right to request (and receive prior to accepting a reservation), actual written proof of birth date (month/day/year) for any toddlers or infants a family wishes to have excluded from the total guest count.

Occupancy is granted for the maximum number of guests noted above. Excess occupancy is not allowed and may also be regulated by resort and/or local County of Maui ordinance.

Just a few of the inclusive complimentary benefits provided are Personal Concierge Service, parking for the number of vehicles stated in the property highlights on-line, high speed internet, local phone calls, tropical bath treats, and personalized arrival greeting and orientation.

Security deposit plus credit card guarantee is requested for this property, plus a separate incidentals deposit for guest requested special services. The security deposit may be reduced for repeat guests on subsequent visits.

Out-cleaning is pre-collected with the final payment. The owner reserves the right to charge for out-cleaning in excess of the pre-collected amount, should the house be left in exceedingly messy condition. Respectful and average guest use is very much appreciated!

Minimum Stay: 5 nights

Maximum Occupancy: 4 persons total, excepting children under 2 years of age.

Payment and Deposit

Deposit: $750

Service Charge: A Reservation Service Fee will be collected with the initial payment in the amount of $250.

Initial Payment: 50% of rate & taxes

Final Payment: 60 days prior to arrival, however we ask for final payment for reservations over Christmas and New Years 90 days prior to arrival.

Housekeeping

Out Cleaning: $500

Housekeeping Provided: For details about the inclusive no-charge (complimentary) housekeeping services provided with your reservation, please refer to the rental cost quote provided to you at the time of first placing your reservation. You will receive information about the housekeeping schedule (dates and times) upon check in. During the Christmas and New Years holiday period, DAILY housekeeping is provided, with the exception that there is no housekeeping service on Christmas Day December 25 nor on New Years Day January 1.

Inclusive housekeeping service may vary based on rate paid or on a seasonal basis. Our villas are extremely well stocked with an abundant supply of towels, blankets and extra bed linens, along with soap and cleaning products. There is plenty of inventory to suffice for several days. There is a laundry room inside your own residence that provides a washer/dryer, laundry soap and supplies, iron/board.

Personal laundry, clean up in the kitchen after cooking or meals, and grill cleaning are not performed during housekeeping services, unless arranged in advance and paid for separately.

Light daily hotel-style cleaning provided includes:

  • Re-make beds
  • Decorative bed pillows are placed in the closet for your convenience
  • Replace stocked soap and paper products and replenish Maui Amenities toiletries
  • Remove trash/garbage
  • Change bath towels if left on the floor or in the tub to be laundered off-site
  • Start a wash for small towels including kitchen towels
  • Wipe off bathtubs, sinks and counters
  • Surface cleaning following by a sweep/vacuum of floors and carpets in traffic areas
  • Wipe off outside furniture and counters.
Some reservations (based on length of stay or rate paid) also receive a linen change and additional cleaning service every 4th day, or during the middle of each full week rented. Mid-week or Mid-Stay cleaning provided includes:
  • Change bed sheets and pillow cases, re-make beds, launder linens off-site
  • Decorative bed pillows are placed in the closet for your convenience
  • Replace stocked soap and paper products and replenish Maui Amenities toiletries
  • Remove trash/garbage
  • Change bath towels if left on the floor or in the tub to be laundered off-site
  • Start a wash for small towels including kitchen towels
  • Wipe off bathtubs, sinks and counters
  • Surface cleaning following by a sweep/vacuum of floors and carpets in traffic areas
  • Wipe off outside furniture and counters.
  • Clean entry and patio floors as needed
  • Light kitchen tidy up

Extra Housekeeping Fees: Additional a la carte housekeeping service is $40 per hour per housekeeper plus 4.166% GE tax with a 2 hour minimum.. Advance notice is requested. Subject to availability.

Disclosure

Disclosure: Neighboring properties have swimming pools that are built into the ground without a fence or cover. Use of the neighboring pools and hot tubs is not allowed. The properties in this area share one large common lawn. It is imperative that guests of Wailea Sunset Bungalow self-monitor any and all outdoor activity, particularly for young children. Please keep young children from straying off the property and please keep anyone who does not swim away from the neighboring pools and hot tubs.

Although recently refurbished this is not new construction. This is a vintage cottage. We make every effort to provide comfortable furniture, abundant electronics, and useful amenities within the setting of an original 1960 era beach cottage.

Air Conditioning should never be set to cool below 70-72 or the equipment may freeze or experience any other damage. Most homes and villas in Hawaii are equipped with residential grade equipment which does not provide bottomless cooling. Cooling is available to a reasonable temperature, usually in the 70-72 range on the very low end. Most guests find that a setting of 72-74 is very comfortable once a unit has been allowed to cool down and with doors and windows closed. At select properties, the air conditioning may only function to a temperature in the 72-74 range with lower temperature settings mechanically excluded.

The grass lawns surrounding the property are trimmed and mowed with a motorized machine once each week. The mower may be audible.

Another private home known as the Wailea Sunset Estate is immediately adjacent to the Wailea Sunset Bungalow. The two dwellings are in close proximity to one another and we cannot say they are exclusively private from each other. A modest amount of landscaping will provide some fairly good separation. Guests of the Bungalow do not have use of the pool or spa at the adjacent Wailea Sunset Estate property. They are separate properties rented to separate guests.

The shoreline in front of the property is pebbly. It may be most comfortable to use foot protection when entering the water. Ocean access may not always be safe due to varied ocean conditions.

Over towards the Polo Beach area an off-shore undertow has been reported a few times in the past. Always swim with a buddy and never turn your back to the ocean. Guests agree to use caution and common sense and to always enter the ocean when the conditions are calm, and to enjoy all sports and activities at their own risk.

SPECIFIC RENTAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS STIPULATED BY MAUI COUNTY AS A CONDITION FOR GRANTING WAILEA SUNSET BUNGALOW A SHORT-TERM (Vacation) RENTAL PERMIT/LICENSE:

  • Quiet Hours From 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., During Which Time the Noise from the Short-Term Rental Home Shall Not Unreasonably Disturb Adjacent Neighbors
  • Sound that is Audible Beyond the Property Boundaries During Non-Quiet Hours Shall Not be More Excessive than Would be Otherwise Associated with a Residential Area
  • Amplified Sound that is Audible Beyond the Property Boundaries of the Short-Term Rental Home is Prohibited
  • Vehicles Shall be Parked in the Designated Onsite Parking Area and Shall Not be Parked on the Street
  • No Parties and No Group Gatherings Other than Registered Guests Shall Occur
  • Occupancy is for 2 Guests per Bedroom
  • Rental is for One Set of Guests (one family) at a time. Property is Not Rented at the Same Time to Unaffiliated Persons
  • Guests May Not Bring Personal Amplified Sound/Music Devices to the Property. They Cannot be Used Inside or Outside of Wailea Sunset Bungalow. No Exceptions Allowed.
